Background.
A leading Port Operations Organisation approached Shirley Parsons to help source a HSEQ Manager for their site in Dublin. When they approached us, there had already been a false start with an in-house HSEQ Manager and a third-party consultancy had been unable to fill the role for six months.
A key requirement for the company was to identify a candidate who could deal with difficult characters on site and implement a programme of genuine safety change at one of the most challenging sites for the company.
Implementation.
Due to prior time investment in the Irish candidate market, such as university visits to meet Health & Safety graduates from Irish Universities, Shirley Parsons was able to reach out to a wide range of potential candidates.
Senior Careers Consultant Mike Roebuck was then able to present the client with two candidates, one at a 'up and coming' level and another more senior HSEQ professional.
Outcome.
One of the candidates presented to the client was successful and a perfect fit for their team. As well as turning around key behavioural issues on site, they were also able to achieve accreditation in all three ISO standards in just nine months, which was promised to the stakeholders of the business.
It was also a perfect move for the candidate as they wanted a position which involved less travelling.
