About Nick

​​Nick is a highly experienced company Director and Manager with over 30 years experience in leadership roles related to HSE&Q. He is passionate about improving people, processes and therefore ultimately business performance all to make a real and tangible difference. He has built effective high-performing teams to deliver service excellence and exceptional quality to solve complex business issues.

Initially he worked for many years in Consultancy delivering change transformation improvement projects related to his academic background in Human Factors and Ergonomics. As a consultant Nick has worked with a large range of different blue-chip clients across many different industries, from Finance (New York Stock Exchange), to Manufacturing (Cummins Engine Company) through to Heavy Industry (British Steel) . Latterly, he joined and worked with General Electric finishing as European Head of Environmental, Health & Safety for Gas Power in their Projects (power station construction) and Services business.

Nick has joined Shirley Parsons as Director of Project Services to drive, develop and grow the professional service offerings of the Project Service business to both our UK as well as our international client base.

An ISEB certified and accredited business analyst, Nick also has IEMA and NEBOSH (both with Distinction) and an MSc in Human Factors & Ergonomics from University College London (UCL).

With a commitment to excellence and innovation, they are seeking a skilled Health & Safety Manager to ensure the highest standards of safety and well-being for their team members. Position Overview: As the Health & Safety Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and implementing health and safety protocols within the warehouse facility. Your primary objective will be to create and maintain a safe work environment, minimizing occupational hazards and promoting a culture of safety awareness among employees. This is a full-time interim position, with a duration extending until November 2024. Otherwise, they are open to considering permanent applicants as well. Key Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with local regulations and company standards. Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions. Lead and coordinate safety training programs for all employees, including new hires and ongoing refresher courses. Collaborate with department managers to ensure that safety protocols are integrated into daily operations and workflows. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing preventive measures to avoid recurrence. Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, incidents, and corrective actions. Qualifications: HVK is preferred or BSc/MSc in Safety Studies Proven experience as a Health & Safety Manager or similar role, preferably within a manufacturing or warehouse environment. In-depth knowledge of Dutch health and safety regulations, with a strong understanding of EU directives and standards. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence employees at all levels of the organization. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to risk management. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent designation is preferred.
