Industry leaders explore operational risk, energy recovery, and HSEQ best practice during exclusive site visit.
Shirley Parsons recently hosted another successful waste-management networking visit for Health & Safety professionals, bringing together industry leaders for an exclusive tour of the SUEZ energy recovery and anaerobic digestion facility in Shepperton.
Organised by Mike Roebuck, the visit gave attendees the opportunity to see first-hand how black-bag and food waste is transformed into energy – while gaining valuable insight into the operational and safety challenges behind the process.
Exploring risk in waste-to-energy operations.
The tour, organised in partnership with Director of Health & Safety, Paul Marsden and led on the day by AE Operations Manager Peter Vidler, explored the unique risk profile involved in waste and energy recovery operations. From vehicle movements and heavy plant to fire prevention and biological hazards, the visit highlighted the complexity of maintaining safe and efficient operations within the sector.
Speaking after the event, Paul Marsden commented:

The visit provided attendees with a practical look at how safety is managed within a high-hazard operational environment, while also creating an opportunity for professionals to exchange ideas and discuss shared challenges facing the H&S sector.
