This year’s survey provides a comprehensive snapshot of the Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability landscape across North America. Our reports highlight key compensation trends, market drivers, and organizational dynamics influencing the profession in 2025.

Key findings from the US report:

  • Median salary among respondents reached $140,000. A $10,000 increase from 2024 report.
  • Top-paying industries include Retail, Pharmaceuticals/Biotech, and Renewable Energy.
  • Certifications and education continue to significantly impact earnings, with professionals holding top certifications earning up to $150,000.
  • Nearly two-thirds of EHS professionals are open to new job opportunities, with 12% actively seeking a new role.
  • Both gender and racial diversity drop sharply at higher ranks, with White males still dominating VP and Director roles, pointing to structural barriers to equitable career growth.

Key findings from the Canadian report:

  • Median salary among respondents climbed to $118,000.
  • Senior roles see significant gains – While specialist salaries stayed flat at $90,000, Managers saw a $15,000 boost, Directors rose by $9,000.
  • Certifications boost compensation – Credentials such as CQA CRST and CSP saw major salary growth.
  • Education remains a key differentiator—the number of professionals with diplomas and bachelor’s degrees increased by $21,000 and $13,000, respectively. 
  • Representation of women in the EHS profession has improved from 33% in 2024 to 39% in 2025, though women remain underrepresented in senior leadership.
  • A significant portion of the EHS workforce is considering new opportunities – 16% are actively job hunting, and 53% are open to offers.
