A leading commercial HVAC and refrigeration services organization is seeking a Fleet Safety Lead to oversee and strengthen driver safety across a large nationwide vehicle fleet. This hybrid role can be based near several major branch locations:

  • Chicago, IL
  • Dallas, TX
  • Atlanta, GA
  • Cleveland, OH
  • Miami, FL

This position will play a critical role in reducing vehicle incidents, improving driver performance, and building a proactive safety culture. This person will be tasked with developing fleet safety programs, delivering driver training, and partnering with operational leaders to implement best practices across multiple locations. It is an excellent opportunity for a fleet safety professional who enjoys combining strategy, coaching, data analysis, and field engagement.

The Role

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of a comprehensive fleet safety program supporting a large multi-state vehicle fleet.
  • Analyze telematics, driver performance metrics, and collision trends to identify risks and implement preventive actions that reduce accidents and improve safety outcomes.
  • Conduct accident investigations, develop corrective action plans, and drive accountability through coaching and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Deliver classroom, behind-the-wheel, and field-based driver training programs while promoting defensive driving best practices and safe vehicle operation.
  • Partner with operational leadership to establish standardized policies, training processes, performance metrics, and safety communications that support long-term cultural improvement.

The Candidate

  • Minimum of 7 years of fleet safety experience, including responsibility for driver safety programs across multiple locations.
  • Proven experience delivering driver training, conducting ride-alongs, coaching employees, and supporting collision investigations.
  • Strong understanding of defensive driving principles, fleet risk management, telematics systems, and fleet safety performance metrics.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence both field personnel and leadership teams.
  • Valid driver’s license with a strong driving record and willingness to travel regularly to support field operations and training activities.
  • Ability to travel nationwide up to 50-60% of the time, visiting different branch locations nationwide
