A leading metals recycling and manufacturing organization is seeking a Health & Safety Manager for its facility in Morgantown, KY. This person will be tasked with driving a proactive safety culture across a unionized, high-hazard industrial environment that includes molten metal processing, by-product operations, and landfill activities. The role will focus on strengthening compliance, reducing risk, and fostering an employee-led approach to workplace safety. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced safety professional to make a significant impact at a site committed to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

The Role

  • Lead all site health and safety programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and company requirements while promoting a strong “safe or stop” culture.
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, and leadership teams to identify hazards, conduct audits, risk assessments, investigations, and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs, emergency response procedures, and employee engagement initiatives that improve overall safety performance.
  • Manage regulatory reporting, workers’ compensation processes, contractor safety activities, and required occupational health programs including hearing conservation, fit testing, and medical evaluations.
  • Analyze safety performance metrics and trends to drive continuous improvement and reduce workplace incidents across the facility.

The Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of health and safety experience within an industrial, manufacturing, metals, chemical, mining, or other high-risk operating environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety management systems, incident investigations, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence employees and leaders at all levels, manage projects, and drive sustainable safety improvements.
  • Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM), unionized environments, continuous improvement methodologies, and/or CSP certification is highly desirable.
