A growing critical minerals and natural resources organization is seeking an EHS&S Manager to support the development of a new mining operation in Sierra Blanca. This person will play a key role in building the site’s safety programs, systems, and culture from the ground up while supporting a rapidly expanding operation. The position offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact during a major growth phase and help shape how safety is approached across a developing mining environment. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on leadership, autonomy, and building programs from scratch.
The Role
- Lead the development and implementation of site-specific health, safety, and environmental programs for a new mining operation, with a primary focus on MSHA compliance and safety management.
- Develop and deliver mine-specific training programs, onboarding processes, and contractor management systems while helping establish the site’s overall EHS framework.
- Partner closely with operations leadership to build a proactive, learning-focused safety culture rooted in employee engagement and Human & Organizational Performance (HOP) principles.
- Manage workers’ compensation, incident response, injury management, and continuous improvement initiatives as the operation transitions into active production.
- Support environmental compliance efforts, including permitting and regulatory requirements, while working alongside technical specialists and external consultants.
The Candidate
- 7+ years of EHS experience within mining, quarrying, aggregates, oil & gas, or other heavy industrial environments.
- Strong MSHA experience is required, ideally including Part 48 training and instructor-level capabilities.
- Proven ability to develop safety programs, policies, procedures, and training initiatives in a growing or evolving operation.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance requirements, with experience supporting permitting and regulatory programs preferred.
- Hands-on leader who is comfortable spending significant time in the field, influencing operational teams, and driving safety culture improvements.
