Introducing Rethink HSEQ: Redefining the Future of HSEQ
Shirley Parsons is excited to announce the official rebranding of Beyond HSEQ to Rethink HSEQ.
Founded two years ago, Beyond HSEQ has successfully hosted five events, catering to a network of Heads of and Directors of HSEQ. By offering interactive and thought-provoking experiences, together we have challenged professionals to rethink traditional approaches and embrace innovative solutions.
Co-Founder and Director at Shirley Parsons Shona Paterson says:
“When we started Beyond HSEQ two years ago, we weren’t entirely sure what it would become. But after hosting five successful events, we’ve been able to refine our purpose and better understand what we offer the profession. We felt it was the right moment to step back, reflect on our achievements, and think about how we can move forward.”
She explains that the decision to rebrand to Rethink HSEQ was driven by a desire to reflect the organization’s commitment to fostering change and innovation within the industry:
“Rethink was always one of our core pillars. Our mission isn’t to change the profession ourselves, but to facilitate those within it to rethink how they approach their work. We aim to introduce new tools, frameworks, skills, and thought leadership from outside the profession to help tackle the evolving challenges it faces. The name ‘Rethink HSEQ’ truly captures the essence of what we’re trying to achieve with our events.”
Rethink Behaviour Change.
The next Rethink HSEQ event ‘Rethink Desire’ will take place on Friday 25th November and will be hosted by the McClaren Construction Group in Canary Wharf.
This time around, we are excited to collaborate with Desire Code and CEO Denise Hampson to offer attendees a unique, immersive experience in behaviour change psychology, focusing on how human behaviour influences the adoption of new ideas.
Denise’s work focuses on the psychology behind decision-making and behaviour change, particularly in understanding why people make unconscious decisions driven by emotions and instincts.
She outlines five key reasons why people choose to buy from or engage with a service:
- Emotional – People are more inclined to choose things they feel emotionally connected to.
- Short-term – Individuals prefer immediate rewards over those in the distant future.
- Certainty – People gravitate towards options they are confident they can obtain, rather than uncertain outcomes.
- Positive – There’s a stronger pull to achieve desirable outcomes than to avoid negative ones.
- Simplified – Services that are easy to access and understand are more attractive.
Immersive experience blending behavioural science and interactive learning.
The immersive experience will allow attendees to ‘walk through’ these concepts, integrating audio, interactive elements, and storytelling to deepen understanding.
Participants will engage with each of these principles not just by hearing them, but by experiencing them first hand. This unique approach allows for more impactful learning, ensuring that attendees adopt the concepts rather than just hearing about them.
You’ll uncover how behavioural design can transform your approach to HSEQ. You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of the people you aim to influence, insight into the hidden forces that make embedding change so challenging, and practical, tactical ideas for how to make your work more impactful.
Following this, the morning session will feature a series of dynamic workshops designed to reinforce the insights gained. These workshops will provide practical tools and techniques to apply the concepts learned.
The afternoon session will feature an exciting escape room, further enhancing the theme of teamwork and problem-solving, while maintaining high energy and engagement. The event will conclude with networking drinks.
Shona says:
“With its blend of behavioural science, interactive learning, and high-energy activities, this event is set to be an unforgettable experience that not only educates but also inspires.”
