Building the Foundations for Renewable Energy Growth

How Shirley Parsons is helping a renewable energy organisation build the governance, processes and integrated management systems needed to support long-term growth and certification.

Background

A renewable energy developer and investor operating across battery energy storage systems (BESS), offshore wind and other renewable technologies is embarking on an ambitious growth programme across the UK and Europe.

To support its long-term vision and business plan, the organisation recognised the need for an Integrated Management System (IMS) capable of providing the governance, consistency and operational controls required to support future growth.

The organisation had developed strong discipline-specific processes across different functions but lacked an integrated management system capable of providing consistency, governance and oversight across the wider business.

With multiple stakeholders, contractors and delivery partners involved throughout the project lifecycle, from development and construction through to operations, it needed a scalable framework that would support future growth while laying the foundations for ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification.

Implementation

Shirley Parsons is partnering with the organisation through a phased programme of support focused on governance, compliance, management system development and project delivery assurance.

Following a comprehensive review of the organisation’s operations, business objectives and strategic direction, we engaged with senior stakeholders from across the business, including executive leadership, commercial, legal, HR, procurement and project delivery teams, to understand how the organisation operated and what it needed to support future growth.

Using these insights, we developed a roadmap for an Integrated Management System aligned to its operating model and long-term ambitions.

Key support areas include:

  • ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 readiness and certification planning
  • Governance and document control frameworks
  • Supplier assurance and procurement processes
  • Process mapping and operational controls
  • QHSE management system development
  • Integrated Management System (IMS) implementation

Outcome

The organisation now has a stronger operational framework to support continued growth across its renewable energy portfolio.

Through improved governance, documented processes and enhanced compliance arrangements, the business has strengthened operational consistency, improved oversight of suppliers and contractors, and established the foundations of an Integrated Management System aligned with its long-term strategy.

What began as a targeted governance and management systems programme has evolved into a long-term strategic partnership, with Shirley Parsons continuing to support the organisation’s operational development, Integrated Management System implementation and certification journey as its renewable energy portfolio continues to grow.
