The Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) is the global professional body dedicated to quality management professionals. With a 100-year legacy and more than 20,000 members in over 100 countries, CQI sets the benchmark for organisational excellence.

As a strategic partner, Shirley Parsons works alongside the CQI to promote the highest standards in quality and assurance. We are committee members of ConSIG (the construction special interest group) support, we produce the Quality Salary and Workforce Insight report and take part in career development and learning events with the CQI.

BSI

Shirley Parsons works alongside BSI to support the development and implementation of certified management systems across the built environment. Through our long-standing involvement in the BSI Associate Consultant Programme, we help organisations achieve and maintain certification to key standards including BS 99001, ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, and 44001. We also contribute to shaping new standards, with our Technical Director serving on the BS 99001 Committee to support quality management in construction.

IOSH

Since 2008, our team has built and sustained close connections with the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), the world’s largest chartered professional body for health and safety practitioners. Shirley, a chartered IOSH member and nominations committee member, was recognized with the IOSH President’s Distinguished Service Award in 2021.

We continue to demonstrate our commitment through active involvement in IOSH forums and events. CSHEMA

Shirley Parsons has collaborated with CSHEMA since 2019 being a corporate member, exhibiting at regional and annual events, webinars.

In 2025, we worked closely with CSHEMA to design and analyze the organisation’s biennial Salary Survey, an essential resource for understanding compensation trends across institutions. By sharing the results at the 72nd Annual CSHEMA Conference, our team helped bring greater visibility to the evolving landscape of EHS roles and provided data to guide both individual career decisions and institutional planning.

AIHA

Shirley Parsons partnered with the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) since 2018.

In the years since then, we have been on their panel discussions and presentations at regional and annual events, partnered with AIHA on 2 research projects (Professional Pathways in IH; Bridging the gap between academia and practice in EHS/IH “ABET Project”).

In 2024, we assisted them in producing their 2024 OEHS Future of Work Survey. With input from over 2,100 professionals, the survey highlighted key hiring trends across the U.S. Our collaboration helped surface actionable findings that support employers, educators, and professionals in hiring decisions.

NAEM

Supporting the advancement of EHS and sustainability leadership across North America. Since 2018, our collaboration with NAEM has included presenting at NAEM’s annual forums and contributing to key industry research—most notably the EHSS Staffing, Structure & Budgets Survey, which provided critical benchmarking data for EHS and sustainability teams. Through this ongoing partnership, we continue to share insights, foster peer learning, and help organisations build stronger, more resilient EHS functions aligned with business strategy.

ASSP

Since 2015, Shirley Parsons has been deeply engaged with the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP), actively shaping conversations around diversity, inclusion, and professional excellence. Our team regularly leads panel discussions, presentations, and webinars at ASSP’s regional and national events, including Special Interest Groups like Hispanic Safety Professionals and Women in Safety Excellence. Beyond events, we’ve partnered on impactful research such as the ABET Project and contributed through volunteer leadership roles within local Chapters and SIGs.

CSSE

Shirley Parsons has teamed up with the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering (CSSE) in the past to deliver webinars on resume building and careers in safety. Combining CSSE’s substantial community reach with our recruitment expertise, we aimed to help attendees with practical tips and insider insights to boost their career prospects.

Durham College

Similar to CSSE, we have partnered with Durham College, who offer occupational health and safety courses; we partnered with their class to host webinars on resume building/breaking into the HSE market. 

CISWP

Shirley Parsons partnered with the Canadian Institute for Safety, Wellness & Performance (CISWP) to host a webinar on the current HSE market. Together, we shared practical insights on trends, challenges, and opportunities in the Canadian HSE sector. The session aimed to help professionals understand the market better and make informed decisions for their careers and organisations.

Shirley Parsons attended the 2024 Health and Safety Professionals Canada (HSCP) Professional Development Conference, engaging with leaders and professionals dedicated to advancing health and safety standards across Canada.

Rethink HSEQ

Rethink HSEQ, founded in 2022 by Shirley Parsons and a group of HSEQ professionals, is a movement focused on people over processes encouraging reflection, rethinking, and inspiration within the profession.

Guided by a Steering Group of forward-thinking leaders, Rethink HSEQ seeks to foster positive change and improve non-technical skills to build a better tomorrow by shifting the focus solely from compliance to people and embracing perspectives beyond traditional professional boundaries challenging the status quo, recognising that while the profession communicates well internally, it must also look outward to overcome decade long challenges.
