Shona Paterson

Director

Om Shona

I’m Shona. I am Director of Talent within Shirley Parsons and am responsible for our HSEQ talent tool MAPP (Motivations, Aspirations, Personality and Progression). I love working with people and get great satisfaction in playing a part in someone’s career journey. I started working with Shirley in 2003, straight out of university. I had no recruitment experience, but having just completed a degree in IT, I knew that I didn’t want that to be my career of choice and wanted to work with people, recruitment seemed to fit that ambition. I have been lucky enough to progress my career within the same business and have seen the business evolve and grow in that time. We have come a long way since we were in a small office in Aylesbury. I have been involved in numerous projects over the years including attracting talent into the sector, managing our own internal recruitment and training, hosting webinars, organising events and most recently in the development of our unique talent tool.

As well as achieving my career ambitions, I am also a Mum to two boys. I consider myself lucky to be able to balance my career with also being a Mum and although sometimes this is challenging, Shirley Parsons have always supported me in this. I am a social being and enjoy socialising, especially if it involves red wine! I enjoy spending time with my children, (unless we are in a lockdown, not so keen on home schooling) and wider family.

“Shona is fantastic at her job. Her commitment to the task, knowledge, and understanding of the safety industry lead to outstanding results. Shona has the ability to build strong working relationships keeping the client engaged at all times.”

– Jay Vekaria, Director of HSE & Risk Management at Visa

“Shona helped me find a job that suits me and my employer and didn't at any point put me forward for jobs that wouldn't suit me or my personality. She did this by ensuring she met me and worked closely with me to establish my best options.”

– Vicki Swaine, Health & Safety Director at 3Safety

“Her attentiveness, resourcefulness and client orientated persona had served Shona extremely well. Highly recommended.”

– Rakesh Maharaj, Founder of ARMSA

“Shona worked diligently to keep me abreast of developments in tricky recruitment where the client needed to keep their identity from applicants. It would have been easy for me to lose patience if it had not been for Shona's close attention to supporting her candidate and ensuring regular communication.”

– Andy Sneddon, HSE Director/Leader at VINCI.
