Job Title: Health & Safety Officer - Amsterdam Fit Out Project

Contract: 3 month project with possible extension

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands

We are currently seeking a dedicated Health & Safety Officer to join the team for an exciting fit-out project in Amsterdam, Netherlands.



Job Description:

As a Health & Safety Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of all personnel involved in the fit-out project in Amsterdam. You will be responsible for implementing and maintaining comprehensive health and safety measures in accordance with local regulations and company standards.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant occupational health and safety regulations, including local laws and company policies.
  • Training: Conduct training sessions for workers as per legal requirements and ensure the proper execution of periodic training programs.
  • Advisory Role: Provide expert advice to the General Contractor (GC) regarding local authority requirements, attending meetings as necessary during site visits.
  • Communication: Keep the GC informed of any developments related to health and safety that may impact the project's progress or the well-being of personnel.
  • Support to Project Manager: Assist the project manager/site manager in developing method statements and risk assessments, contributing to overall project safety.
  • Work Permit Verification: Conduct weekly verification of work permits issued by the workplace manager, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
  • Safety Signage: Identify and implement appropriate occupational health and safety signage on-site in accordance with legal requirements and project dynamics.
  • Authorization and Documentation: Advise construction site management on necessary authorizations and documentation for existing work equipment.
  • Internal Controls: Perform regular internal workplace inspections, reporting any deficiencies and proposing corrective actions to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Coordination: Collaborate with relevant stakeholders including workers' representatives, external prevention services, and occupational health professionals to coordinate safety measures effectively.
  • H&S Plan: Develop and revise the Health & Safety Plan as required, ensuring its accessibility and relevance on-site.
  • Fire Safety: Oversee fire protection measures, conduct controls, and provide general introductory training to employees on fire safety protocols.
  • Incident Management: Maintain records of all safety-related incidents, accidents, and near misses, proposing preventive measures and ensuring timely reporting to the GC.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated with legislative regulations concerning health and safety at work, proposing and implementing measures to ensure compliance.


Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Health & Safety Officer in a construction or fit-out environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations, particularly in the Netherlands.
  • Strong communication and advisory skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Certification in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field is preferred.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English, both written and verbal.
