A multinational food and beverage manufacturer is seeking a Senior Environmental Specialist to join their EHS team at their complex manufacturing facility in Harrisonburg, VA. Reporting to the Senior EHS Manager, the Senior Environmental Specialist will be responsible for driving the overall environmental culture and compliance by supporting the development and implementation of environmental tools, programs, and best practice techniques.
The Role:
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and corporate standards
- Aid the Senior EHS Manager in developing and implementing environmental tools, programs, and policies based on regulations and internal needs
- Research and implement new environmental regulations; support compliance and risk reduction measures
- Manage environmental reporting, permits, and compliance with federal, state, and local agencies
- Lead initiatives such as Zero Waste to Landfill Program, support sustainability efforts, and oversee environmental incident responses
- Assist the wider EHS team when organizing and carrying out EHS audits, training, and reporting
The Candidate:
- B.S. in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or relevant field preferred
- 5+ years of environmental experience in a manufacturing setting
- Working knowledge of local and federal environmental and safety regulations
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to interact with employees at all levels and lead training where necessary
- Eagerness to learn, develop and advance as an environmental professional
