Your future

Our client is a global leading metal manufacturer that is looking for a Safety, Health & Environment Manager. This position is the key safety role in the UK production plant, which includes a non-ferrous metal foundry and rolling mill.

In this exciting position, you will work closely with the plant Managing Director, Senior Management team, Vice President Rolled Products, and the SHE Director to implement our new safety strategy and take our safety performance to the next level. You will be responsible for the Environmental & Sustainability officer and the HSE Coordinator.

You will take the lead and be a role model around safety. You are experienced in dealing with Operations Management and the Shop floor. Communication at eye level with operations and production managers is essential. You have proven that you can change the safety culture and behavior and work with union representatives.

The ideal candidate will have professional safety training, high motivation and persuasiveness, initiative, and the will to positively influence safety.

Practice:
You manage the safety aspects at the production site and ensure the implementation of the company safety strategy together with the plant management.

Responsibility:
You will report directly to the Managing director locally and functionally to the Director of Safety, Health & Environment.

Optimization:
You will develop local safety-related concepts and action plans to improve the safety culture at the site and our safety standards. You will monitor changes in legal requirements and support the implementation of SHE (Safety, Health and Environmental) procedures based on a thorough workplace hazard analysis in accordance with local legislation and the company safety strategy.

Facilitator:
You will organize SHE training for our employees involved in SHE improvement projects, from preparation to implementation. Independently running health and safety committee meetings is one of your tasks.

Projects:
You will support occupational health, safety and environmental investment projects and ensure that contractors are supported to follow legislation and site rules. This may involve daily CDM meetings with the contractors, Inductions, and inspections etc. You will also support site shutdowns if requested.

Soft-Skills:
Analytical skills, hands-on mentality with excellent communication, planning and organizational skills, and a passion for safety-conscious work are among your strengths.

Minimum

- Degree Level Diploma (Health & Safety NEBOSH, NCRQ or NVQ level 6 or (NVQ 5 working towards 6)
- Certified (ex-Graduate) member of IOSH
- 5 year's experience in manufacturing
- You are a strong communicator and can positively influence the local safety culture.
- You have experience in dealing with change in an organization.
- Experience with regulators
- You have experience in handling and implementing safety programs.
- Contractor management experience
- Training experience at all levels

Desired

- Chartered Membership of IOSH or working towards
- Experience in foundry and heavy metal industry
- CDM site management experience of contractors
- Lead Auditor ISO45001, ISO14001
- Environmental training
- First Aider
- Mental Health First Aider
- Emergency Management experience
