Head of Careers

About Phillip

I’m Phil, Head of UK Careers here at Shirley Parsons. I hold a variety of responsibilities to encourage others and develop markets, as well as partnering with external clients of all sizes within the Infrastructure sector to find top talent for their SHEQ teams. I joined the business over 10 years ago and have always sat within the talent search team, working my way up from a Junior Recruiter to where I am now. I have a number of achievements which I’m very proud of since being with Shirley Parsons, including the successful launch of sector specific webinars, developing partnerships with universities, and gaining a distinction in the NCRQ Level 6 Certificate in Applied Health and Safety.

Whilst I know I don’t look old enough, I held a few positions beforehand within retail and supply chain. Anyone will tell you that I LOVE to talk, so I think this career suits me a lot better than the confines of shop floors and warehousing!

I’m a family man who can often be found spending time with my 4 children and fiancé – fingers crossed 2022 is the year where a pandemic doesn’t get in the way of our wedding!

I’m a huge sports fan and love watching live sport as and when I can, in particular football and NFL. I also enjoy a beer or two, so the two passions go hand-in-hand quite nicely.

People often tell me that I’d make a great game show host, which makes sense because it is a dream of mine to spin the wheel of fortune or banter with The Chasers. Keep your eyes peeled, I’m sure you’ll see me on TV one day!

“Phil was instrumental in securing me a fantastic opportunity. He worked tirelessly on my behalf putting my interests before anything else. I was impressed to find out he has completed H&S qualifications which add to his excellent insight into what is required of a safety professional.”

- Anthony Stranack, Health & Safety Graduate at Ferrovial Construction

“I had the pleasure of working with Phil during my recent career transition in 2014/2015. Phill was immediately dedicated to helping me and provided me with support and reassurance. His advice was very valuable, clear and thorough. If Phil said he would follow up, I could always count on him to do so when said he would - he is a true professional. I would recommend him to anyone who is open to job search with confidence. Thank you for all your hard work in helping me secure my new position!”

– Judith Bilson - SHE Business Partner, Rydon

“Phil has always been able there to deal and action any issues that has come his way, I would defiantly recommend Phil as a hardworking individual.”

– Alan Jones, HSE Advisor at Siemens Wind Power

“I had the pleasure to work with Phillip and I have always been impressed by his friendly professional approach and eye for matching me with a role. Too often recruiters send your way indiscriminate job prospects, wasting your time on a wrong match, with Phillip I am confident he will take my personality and professional views into consideration when presenting me a job prospect. I would recommend him to any SHE professional looking for a new opportunity knowing he will walk that extra mile for you. Thank you for all your support Phillip.”

– Rita Guimaraes, Health & Safety Advisor at Costain Group PLC
