Job Title: Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager
Location: Westelijk Havengebied of Amsterdam
Full-time Interim Contract up to 1 year
Company Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager to assist a major automobile parts center in Amsterdam. The warehouse complex spans an impressive 90,000m², accompanied by 6,500m² of office space, all situated on a vast 200,000m² site. You would be responsible for keeping a team of approximately 250 dedicated employees safe that are involved in the warehouse operations, all of whom take pride in efficiently transporting and distributing parts and accessories to sales outlets across Europe and beyond.
Job Description:
As the EHS Manager, you will play a pivotal role in promoting a culture of safety, environmental responsibility, and health consciousness within the Motor Parts Center. Your expertise and leadership will be instrumental in ensuring compliance with all applicable EHS regulations, driving continuous improvement in EHS performance, and fostering a safe and healthy workplace for all employees. Reporting directly to the site management, your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
EHS Compliance:
-Stay abreast of local, national, and international EHS regulations and standards, ensuring that the facility complies with all relevant requirements.
-Develop, implement, and update EHS policies, procedures, and guidelines to maintain a safe and sustainable work environment.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
-Conduct regular risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential EHS issues, recommending and implementing appropriate control measures.
-Establish and maintain emergency response plans and procedures to address any potential accidents, incidents, or crises effectively.
Training and Education:
-Provide comprehensive EHS training to employees, contractors, and visitors to promote awareness and adherence to EHS policies and procedures.
-Organize workshops and awareness campaigns on various EHS topics, fostering a safety-first mindset among all staff members.
Incident Management:
-Lead and coordinate investigations into accidents, near misses, and incidents, identifying root causes and developing corrective action plans to prevent future occurrences.
-Maintain accurate records of all incidents and ensure timely reporting to relevant authorities as required.
Waste Management and Environmental Protection:
-Oversee the implementation of sustainable waste management practices, including recycling and proper disposal of hazardous materials.
-Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to minimize the environmental impact of the facility's operations.
EHS Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
-Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and evaluate EHS performance, preparing regular reports for management and relevant authorities.
-Use data-driven insights to propose and implement continuous improvement initiatives in EHS practices.
Contractor Management:
-Evaluate EHS performance of contractors and suppliers, ensuring they adhere to all relevant safety and environmental standards.
-Collaborate with procurement and vendor management teams to select contractors with a strong EHS track record.
Requirements:
-Hogere Veiligheidskunde (HVK) or MVK with at least 5+ years of EHS management experience
-Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications are a plus.
-Proven experience (minimum of 2 years) in EHS management within a warehouse or industrial environment, preferably with exposure to logistics and automotive sectors.
-In-depth knowledge of EHS regulations and standards applicable to the Netherlands and Europe.
-Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels of the organization.
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
-Analytical mindset with the ability to collect and interpret EHS data to drive informed decision-making.
-Fluent in English and Dutch, both written and verbal.
