In his role at Shirley Parsons, John primarily oversees clients working within the Construction & Utilities industries. He partners with clients to identify and recruit EHSQ talent from graduate-level positions through to executive appointments. His areas of specialization include, but are not limited to, the following market sectors: Construction, Civil Engineering, Utilities, Mining, Renewables, and Oil & Gas.
John joined Shirley Parsons in 2015 after graduating from the University of Liverpool. He spent his first three years based in the company’s UK office, providing EHSQ recruitment support for construction clients. In 2018, he relocated to Los Angeles to help support the growth of Shirley Parsons’ construction EHSQ services across North America. After spending eight years living and working in Los Angeles, he recently relocated to Austin, Texas, where he continues to support clients in identifying EHSQ talent for their teams.
John’s strengths in recruitment lie in translating complex client needs into clearly defined hiring strategies, ensuring both clients and candidates are aligned from the outset. By acting as a trusted advisor throughout the process, he builds lasting relationships that drive better long-term hires and career outcomes.
Outside of work, John is a huge sports fan and will watch just about any event on TV, particularly Liverpool FC. On weekends, he can usually be found either playing soccer or spending time eating and drinking with family and friends.
