People do Business with People

  • Publish Date: Posted over 4 years ago

Shirley Parsons regularly appears in the monthly IOSH magazine. To kick things off for 2018 in January’s edition she talks about what it was like to communicate with both candidates and clients in the early days of the business and why it always comes down to the quality of your people when doing business at any level.

How Things Have Changed

Shirley commented, “It’s been 21 years since we started offering specialist HSEQ recruitment services to our existing clients, firstly as Sypol and then as Sypol Recruit and now as Shirley Parsons Ltd. In the early days, we received CV’s by post and generally sent them out using fax. I remember clearly the day a client threw us into disarray by asking if we could email the CV to him. How times have changed!”

With advances in the use of social channels and the ability to have instant video calls, communications have evolved in the recruitment world at a breath-taking pace. Shirley went on to say, “Nowadays everyone relies heavily on social media and the internet to carry out business. However, at the heart of what we do is still our face-to-face meetings with as many clients and candidates as possible. I believe this is what sets us apart and enables us to continue to offer a personal service.”

It’s about Face-to-Face

With a firm belief in the quality of your people at the heart of the Shirley Parsons business, Shirley concluded by saying, “So if you are looking for a new role and haven’t yet met us, or you are looking to recruit a new team member, please pick up the phone and call us. I firmly believe that in spite of all the technology available today via mobile phones, tablets and the internet, people still do business with people.”
