The Team
The site conducts research to innovate therapies and develops these novel methods toward clinical application.
The site is located in Amsterdam and is part of the global company's R&D network. The mission of the site is to be an industry leader in cell therapy.
Main Responsibilities
Health & Safety Manager develops and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local (Dutch) and company's rules and regulations. They support the organization in keeping their employees safe in the most appropriate manner and with pro-active efficiency.
- Ensure the implementation of applicable HSE Policies
- Ensure regulatory compliance of the Site with local HSE legislation and company global requirements
- Support and evaluate the new projects regarding HSE
- Set up and manage the risk management systems
- Implement and co-ordinate the internal HSE audit process
- Participate and support external audits
- Manage the HSE training processes and prepare annual training plan
- Co-ordinate site HSE Management review meetings with Site Leadership Team. Execute responsibilities of site according to lawful and ethical standard
- Manage the documentation of health, safety, environment and energy management systems (ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 & ISO 50001)
- Manage and Co-ordinate HSE documentations and reports with other departments and sites in the network
- Provide HSE training to employees and contractors
- Follow up and manage HSE activities at the site
- Monitor HSE KPIs and report all HSE KPIs periodically
- Follow up permit to work system
- Manage and implement company's Sustainability Programs at the site
- Provide technical support to all employees and departments
- Manage and implement HSE culture activities at the site
- Manage Industrial Hygiene activities at the site
- Manage Process safety management at the site
- Manage Machine safety management
- Manage Fire management system
- Initiate and support Managerial Safety Visits (Gemba)
- Co-ordinate with other departments in terms of HSE
- Preparation of standard operating procedures for the safe use, storage, transport, and disposal of biohazards
- Registering GMO in accordance Dutch law
- Train on a variety of topics related to biosafety
- Conduct and document biosafety risk assessments with support from scientists and/or department managers
- Establish and implement procedures for biological safety in accordance with Dutch law and company's Biosafety Standards
- Enquires and provides information to various (senior) staff members, colleagues within the CTA site
- Liaise with company's Amsterdam staff
- Liaise with other company's R&D sites, Global HSE, and company's Network
- Liaise with external third parties
About You
- Bachelor degree in safety or related field (HVK)
- Trained certified bio safety officer or willing to be trained to become one
- Relevant HSE work experience, preferably in an international pharmaceutical environment
- Fluent in Dutch, verbal and written (required to correspond with Dutch Authorities on BSO)
- Fluent in English, verbal and written
- Knowledge of the local rules and regulations (Arbowetgeving)
- Awareness of sensitive and confidential nature of information and/or situations
- Organizational, multitasking skills & organizational awareness
- Personnel interaction skills

- Sense of urgency, flexible and pro-active
- Awareness and understanding of cultural differences and sensitivities
- Experienced HSE/ Biosafety position with relevant work experience
- Competency skills to perform routine tasks
- Work may be self-initiated or prescribed and completed mostly with autonomy
- Works with minimal supervision or with understanding of defined objectives
