Description

A manufacturing company is looking to hire an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist for their facility in the Ottawa, ON area.  The EHS Specialist will work closely with the site leadership to drive site and corporate EHS initiatives and help develop programs and processes. The successful candidate will be tasked with fostering a healthy safety culture, requiring the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at various levels of the business.

The Role:

• Develop and implement EHS related programs, policies, and practices to support program goals 

• Responsible for EHS oversight of hazard/risk identification, assessment and controls, emergency preparedness and resource planning

• Conduct EHS compliance audits, training, job hazard assessments, and other related assignments 

• Monitor changes to all EHS regulations pertaining to their area and review recommendations for incorporation into EHS management systems and standards in a timely manner

• Drive a positive and collaborative safety culture throughout the organization 

The Candidate:

• Bachelor's Degree in health science, engineering, or any related scientific field 

• Minimum 3 years' experience in EHS manufacturing environment 

• Strong communication and influencing skills
