Senior Health and Safety Manager

Shirley Parsons have partnered with the University of Leeds who are looking to appoint a Senior Health and Safety Manager. The successful candidate will manage a Health and Safety Team covering the engineering, physical sciences, and Environmental Hub and assist the Head of Health and Safety at a strategic level. This position is based in Central Leeds and will suit candidates with an engaging approach and the ability to build rapport at all levels.

The Senior Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for: 

• Supporting the Head of Health and Safety in the development, maintenance, monitoring, and reviewing of the University's Occupational Health and Safety management arrangements
• Providing a strategic lead for the Health and Safety team, developing and driving the internal Health and Safety for both students and faculty  
• Leading a Health and Safety team and engaging and establishing strong working relationships with stakeholders across the business 
• Playing a key role in the design and delivery of the University health and safety training and HASMAP Audit process, and supporting the achievement and maintenance of the University's external certification and the transition from OHSAS 18001 to ISO45001

The Senior Health and Safety Manager will have: 

• 5 + years experience in the education or engineering sectors within a Health and Safety position and experience line managing a Health and Safety team
• Level 6 qualification in Health and Safety as a minimum e.g NEBOSH/NCRQ Diploma 
• CMIOSH or GradIOSH working towards CMIOSH (Essential) 
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with stakeholders across all levels
