EHS Director

Description

A leading industrial organization with 3,000 employees is looking to appoint an EHS Director to lead their US EHS program.  The Director will be tasked with influencing a healthy and proactive safety culture, requiring the ability to engage key stakeholders at various levels of the business. The Director will hold a highly visible role within the organization and is responsible for overseeing organizational compliance with local, state and federal EH&S regulations.  This role will encompass 50% travel with responsibilities in the eastern and central U.S.

The Role:

  • Developing, strategizing and implementing a long-term plan for the EHS function
  • Driving a culture of "Safety First" across the business to reduce injuries and accidents
  • Promoting continuous improvement efforts in the EHS function, integrating tactical and strategic EHS planning
  • Develop and lead a team of regional and site-level safety professionals effectively

 

The Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, IH, Environmental Science,  or a related technical field preferred
  • Must have 10+ years’ EHS leadership experience within a heavy industrial environment, with experience of operating at strategic and senior-leadership level, in a multi-site and companywide capacity
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly throughout all levels of an organization
  • High energy, drive and persistence required
  • CSP, CIH, CHMM, or Masters' degree preferred
