Corporate Safety Director

A leading MEP contractor is looking to hire a Corporate Safety Director to join their team. You would be responsible for developing an enterprise-wide safety program for the organization and its subsidiaries across a multi-state environment. The Role:

  • Evaluate the current safety program, including assessing suitability for all of subsidiary operating companies, compliance with federal, state, and local rules and regulations, and identifying any gaps in the program
  • Develop best-in-class safety training focused on both industry specific and behavioral based training to foster a strong safety culture across the organization
  • Work with the Safety Committee to establish goals, metrics, and priorities for the safety function that are designed to reduce and prevent workplace injuries, vehicle incidents, and liability claims
  • Lead the investigation of any accidents, injuries, and near misses, including providing recommendations to mitigate future incidents
  • Track safety metrics (such as TRIR, LTIR, and near misses) across all operating companies and reports such metrics to executive leadership and benchmarks safety performance against peer companies
  • Manages and mentors safety professionals working at operating companies, including identifying high-potential safety champions to develop a future safety leadership pipeline
  • Assists in the vetting of potential acquisitions from a safety compliance standpoint and leads safety integration for newly acquired operating companies
  • Assists with the management of workers’ compensation claims

The Candidate:

  • Minimum of 10 years of safety experience within commercial construction (MEP experience preferred)
  • 5 years’ experience leading a safety function and team across a multi-state environment
  • Demonstrated experience building out safety programs, developing safety initiatives, and drafting safety policies and procedures
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to influence others
  • This role can be based from either DFW, Denver or Phoenix
  • The ability to travel to all active projects and company locations (circa. 50-75%)
