About Liam

My Name's ​Liam, I have worked for Shirley Parsons since its creation in 2005. Over the years I’ve experienced working with organisations across all sectors and across many countries. As one of the first hires, I have been fortunate in being able to help shape the company and see it grow into the industry leader it is today.

Initially I headed up the Manufacturing & Logistics team, before setting up our Executive Search division. The team and I manage senior appointments for the company across our key sectors of Health & Safety, Sustainability & ESG and Quality.

Away from work and family duties, I used to play rugby, and still an avid follower of the sport. From a participation point of view these days, I’m often spotted on the tennis court.

This truly unique opportunity comes with a varied risk profile; including events, property management and CDM projects. This is a strategic leadership role, that requires a hands-on approach, and will suit an individual with the ability to influence and engage at all levels. The Head of Health, Safety & Fire will be responsible for: - Managing the risk (Health, Safety & Fire) of a number of large, complex sites with a large workforce and interaction with the public. - Develop, implement and maintain robust, but workable, Health, Safety and Fire programmes - This includes contributing to the wellbeing programme - Working with key stakeholders to ensure the risk management approach is relevant and workable for the organisation - Managing and developing a large team of technical professionals - Lead by example, supporting and coaching them as necessary - Working with key external stakeholders and contactors The Head of Health, Safety & Fire will have: - Proven leadership skills in a director, head of, or senior management position - Strong management skills. There is a sizeable team to mange and develop - Commercial awareness and the ability to adapt - this is fast-moving arena - Industry experience from the following sectors would be viable - Property Management, FM. Events, Retail - Proven H&S qualifications are needed and ideally experience of managing fire safety. Head of H&S (global remit) - Competitive package and benefits Shirley Parsons has been retained exclusively by a FTSE 100 manufacturing organisation to appoint a proven H&S leader with global experience. This is a strategic appointment and will require an individual with the experience of delivering results in a fast-paced and complex environment. As Head of H&S you'll take a leading and influential role in establishing clear standards for H&S & developing a strategy in a collaborative manner, that ensures these standards are successfully adopted and embedded throughout the organisation. You'll maintain oversight of ongoing compliance and performance levels, establishing frameworks and driving engagement with senior stakeholders. The organisation has high level of senior management engagement throughout the group, with mature leading and lagging metrics and general reporting, together with a range of initiatives. A key area of focus for the business will be evolving both the H&S climate and culture, so demonstrable examples of success in the evolution of these areas is a prerequisite for the role. Other significant areas of focus include evolving the group wide behavioural based safety observations initiative and the recent introduction of a new Global Electrotonic SMS platform and root cause analysis tool. There is an expectation that the successful applicant will also lead, consolidate and refine existing assurance strategies. Supporting H&S Management teams through digitization programmes and contribute in the Health and Well-being programme; while maintaining and evolving engagement strategies at all levels. The role will report into Managing Director and have a strong dotted line into the Group H&S Director. To be successful, you'll need proven leadership experience within a large, complex organisation, including previous accountability for developing and implementing strategy, policies and frameworks. Your communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills will be excellent. You'll be a dynamic and personable leader who doesn't mind getting hands-on when needed, working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to achieve your shared goals. This is an exciting role for an ambitious candidate. Due to the global footprint of the business, there will be an expectation of global travel.
