Student Employability: Working in Safety and Health

Senior Careers Consultant Tayla Brown joins IOSH webinar panel to offer students expert advice on employability and routes into OSH Careers.

Hosted by IOSH President Lawrence Webb, Shirley Parsons Senior Careers Consultant Tayla Brown will join Funmi Adegbola of Combined Solutions Empowerment Foundation and Sheena O'Brien of Sun International to discuss routes into OSH careers and how you can start your own.

The webinar, which will take place on Friday 21st April 2023 at 12.30 pm, is titled ‘The Beginners Guide to the Profession’ and is the first fragment of a 4-part series that will look into student employability and working in health and safety.

The webinar will aim to support listeners journey into the profession and will focus on understanding why people work in OSH; what do the jobs look like? Where does the career ladder start? What skills might be required?

Celebrating 10 years with Shirley Parsons

Answering a Q&A session and taking the lead on what ‘soft skills’ are needed to enter the industry, Tayla has recently celebrated her 10th anniversary at Shirley Parsons and has worked across a variety of business functions. Realising her natural skill in developing relationships, she stepped into the Careers team in 2018 and is now a Senior Careers Consultant specialising in the Construction and Infrastructure sectors.

As a qualified health and safety professional and gaining the NCRQ Level 6 Certificate in Applied H&S in 2020, Tayla is passionate about educating and promoting Diversity and Inclusion in the workplace and will bring a wealth of expert insight and practical takeaways to the panel.
