SP Consultants in UK and US work together to provide global Environmental, Health and Safety Director.
A global healthcare services business identified the need for a global environmental, health and safety Director to spearhead their transition to become a better corporate citizen. EHS had previously been managed locally by individual business units but the business wanted one experienced leader to transform the culture of the business to truly embrace health, safety, sustainability and wellbeing.
This needed a special individual, someone with experience and knowledge of the healthcare sector together with fabulous communication skills, an entrepreneur with high energy, enthusiasm and the ability to engage and inspire colleagues.
As the business was international, the individual could be based either in the USA or the UK, and responsible for leading change globally. The business looked for a search partner with experience in the sector and an ability to manage the project in the UK and USA.
Shirley Parsons Head of Executive Search, Liam Tiddy, led the project supported by Principal Consultant Abby Amundson in the USA and Careers Consultant Chris Stone in the UK. Our team had several online meetings with the client leadership team, to fully understand the brief, the scope of the role, the experience and personality needed from the candidate perspective. The team then undertook a thorough search of senior EHS professionals with relevant experience within the UK and USA.
More than 30 candidates were approached and interviewed by our team. For each of these interviews we proactively promoted the prospects of the role and the challenges that the successful candidate would face. A shortlist of 5 candidates who reacted well to the challenge and demonstrated inspirational communication skills were then presented to the client.
After interviewing the shortlist of candidates, a final selection of 2 were considered and then one candidate based in the UK offered the position. Shirley Parsons helped to negotiate contracts and ensured start and onboarding were smooth.
