The survey was undertaken during the first quarter of 2023 and we received more than 1,600 completed responses, which were then analysed by our data experts.
HSEQ and Sustainability Salary Survey 2023 key findings
These are the key findings from our insights survey:
1. STYLE, CULTURE & CONTENT
Our survey showed that management style, work content & the importance of HSEQ within an organisation are the key factors when considering a new position.
2. 15% SALARY INCREASE
When looking for a new position, HSEQ & Sustainability professionals expect a15.2% salary rise. Salaries paid to our survey responders have all increased this year.
3. SATISFACTION UP
Average satisfaction is up on last year’s survey, with professionals in Energy & Consultancy most satisfied and those in Education & Rail the least satisfied.
4. INCREASE IN FEMALES
The percentage of females at the lowest level of responsibility increased by 7% this year to nearly 37%. Men continue to dominate at Director level.
5. NORTH LEVELS UP
Salaries in London continue to be significantly above the average but this year we have seen salaries in the North West, Yorkshire & Humberside increase significantly.
6. GENDER PAY GAP NARROWS
Male responders earn 6.2% more on average than female responders but at the lowest /entry level of seniority women earnt more than men.
