From Aylesbury - Kyiv Raising Money For Ukraine

  • Publish Date: Posted about 2 years ago

We have a corporate commitment to make this a better world to live in and whatever we can do to help the innocent victims of the atrocities in Ukraine we will do. To do our part we are raising money for Disasters Emergency Committee, a charity which in major crises brings together 14 leading UK aid charities to raise money to help save lives and rebuild shattered communities. They are currently supporting communities in Ukraine affected by the current crisis. The eight-year conflict in Ukraine has dramatically escalated. Heavy fighting, shelling and air strikes across Ukraine have had devastating consequences for the population with people forced to flee their homes to escape the violence.

We set ourselves a target to cover the distance from Aylesbury to Kyiv, Ukraine - 2344 KM's, by either walking, running, cycling, or swimming over the course of 7 days - Monday 28th March to Monday 4th April.

We set up 2 exercise bikes in the Aylesbury office that were used throughout the working day, as of the morning of the 4th of April, we surpassed our target, and have reached 2385.5 KM’s, and counting. Additionally, our GoFundMe page has also passed our target of £1000 in donations and is still live. If you haven’t yet donated, we’d love to add your support to ours - https://gofund.me/448fc7b8

“I was delighted to cycle the final few kilometres of our #miles4ukraine challenge this morning. We’ve been collectively cycling/running/walking the 2344 kilometres distance from Aylesbury to Kyiv to raise awareness and money for the Disasters Emergency Committee appeal for Ukraine. It’s been a world-wide team effort involving more than 40 Shirley Parsons colleagues across three continents. Particular thanks to Emily Swindlehurst who has done an amazing job organising the event and has superbly led from the front every day!” – Shirley Parsons
