Tayla volunteers for Pride London recruitment role

  • Publish Date: Posted almost 3 years ago

Last week Tayla Brown, Senior Recruiter for Shirley Parsons, started volunteering as a recruitment manager for Pride in London in her spare time.

Pride in London is a non-profit organisation, which hosts the biggest (and only free) pride event in the UK to raise awareness and support for the LGBTQIA+ community. She helps make Pride for what Pride is, a diverse and equal home for all ethnicities and faiths to support and celebrate expression and sexuality. Pride in London relies on the support of 250 experienced volunteers, and Tayla will spend a couple of hours each week working in a team to coordinate, recruit, and speak to all of the volunteer candidates in order to bring their talents together to make Pride happen.

“It is a real pleasure to be able to use the skills that I have learned at Shirley Parsons to good use in a cause I passionately support. Maybe I just can't get enough of recruitment - but I do love talking to candidates and when I’ve finished my day job, I’m ready to volunteer and do it all over!"

Tayla was keen to volunteer as an on-the-day steward but saw the Recruitment Manager position advertised on the Pride website and thought it was the perfect match and ideal position for her to use her talents to make a difference.

“Funnily enough, the Head of Recruitment had worked within the infrastructure sector in the past and had met Shirley and Liam – so he knew of our professional approach and was keen to talk to me further!”

The main Pride in London event happens on September 11th and Tayla is busy recruiting volunteers to help promote and support the event.

“I am currently recruiting for a Social Media Manager and there are another 20 active roles that need experienced volunteers.”

All roles are on the Pride website at Jobs list - Pride in London

As a business we are immensely proud of Tayla and doing all we can to support her volunteering. But don’t worry, she is still doing her day job of placing skilled HSE professionals into exciting roles!
