Description
Reporting into the company MD, duties include:-
- To ensure that the Company Health, Safety and Environmental Policy is up to date with current legislation.
- Identify areas where the Company Policy and Arrangements are not being adhered to and provide assistance in rectifying the situation.
- To maintain monitoring and other procedures to determine how well health and safety are being managed.
- To assist in establishing organisational arrangements, systems and controls for both hardware and human performance including advising on legal and technical matters.
- Keep Directors and particularly the Director responsible for health, safety and the environment informed on developments with regard to new legislation and industry best practice.
- To develop and implement initiatives to maintain a positive culture with the organisation with respects to health, safety and environmental performance.
- Assist in the preparation of project specific documentation including Tender Submissions, Health and Safety Plans, Method Statements and Risk Assessments. Health and Safety Files etc.
- To provide support and assistance in the completion of Prequalification Questionnaires.
- To manage all aspects of health, safety and environmental training.
- To maintain reporting systems for all accidents and near misses and ensure appropriate levels of investigation and controls are implemented to prevent re-occurrence.
- To assess the health and safety competence of all prospective Contractors.
- To communicate with all levels of the organization and with external agencies including the Health and Safety Executive, Environment Agency and Fire Authority on health, safety and environmental matters.
Suitable candidates MUST have a NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ 4 or Degree in Health and Safety. They are also looking for candidates to have the IEMA qualification, CSCS platinum card and membership of one or more of the following: IOSH, IEMA, IIRSM, APS. As the company's SHE Manager, applicants will be responsibility for a H&S Advisor, therefore proven management skills are required, alongside at least 5 years experience within fit out and construction, ideally for a principal contractor. Experience of CDM 2007, working understanding of Control of Asbestos at Work 2006, Construction Phase Safety Plans, Fire and Emergency Plans, Method Statements and Risk Assessments are also required. We are looking for someone who has worked at a strategic, technical level within the health and safety sector.
