About Tom

​Tom is a Principal Consultant at Shirley Parsons at has worked at the company since 2014.

Having worked in both Europe and North America, he has a strong track-record working with international organisations to help solve their HSE & Sustainability challenges. To date, he has supported companies in mission critical environments including Data Centre Developers, Life Sciences Start-Ups, and Fortune 500 businesses with their HSE programme management and talent needs.

Tom specialises in a wide range of sectors including international laws and regulations, consultancy, benchmarking, auditing, and permanent and contract staffing.

After graduating from University with a BSc in Geography and Environmental Studies, Tom joined Shirley Parsons as a graduate, initially supporting construction organisations in the UK, before moving to Boston, MA in 2018 to further establish SP’s construction safety offering in North America. During this time, he supported companies across the construction, energy, utilities, and tech sectors in delivering both recruitment and consulting safety solutions.

Tom enjoys building partnerships with clients to understand their company-specific safety challenges and delivering high quality solutions.

Job Title: Secondary Safety Expert Location: Breda, Netherlands Permanent Salary: €4,500 to €4,700 Introduction: Join the Facility Services in Breda as a Secondary Safety Expert and play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of all segments within our services, covering Industrial Cleaning, Food, and Technical Services. As part of a close-knit team, you'll enjoy a dynamic work environment with the freedom to shape your daily schedule. The Secondary Safety Expert will be responsible for: Conducting risk assessments and coordinating action plans with implementing colleagues Instructing and guiding colleagues during start-up meetings on safety measures Performing observation rounds to identify hazards or near misses and monitoring progress on implemented measures Handling work permit applications for specific tasks, including instructing contractors and subcontractors Identifying and addressing solicited and unsolicited safety signals, utilizing knowledge and experience to enhance safety practicesThe Secondary Safety Expert will have: Completed education in Secondary Safety Science. Proficiency in applying environmental and health and safety legislation. Experience in a technical environment. Familiarity with research methods such as 5XWHY. Strong analytical skills with the ability to convey findings effectively. Social, steadfast, and eager to learn.
